Mountainfest

Every June Fort Drum has a weekend they call Mountainfest. This is a weekend of airshows, a concert, playing for the kids and fireworks. Saturday Andrew and I joined some friends and headed over to the airfield to enjoy the festivities. We were there for about 7 hours so needless to say it was a long day, but fun just the same. When we first arrived there was so much to do Andrew didn't know where to start. We went over to the area with all of the bounce houses and slides. One thing you have to love about Mountianfest is that all of the activities are free. After going down a few slides we headed over to the food tents to find something to eat. There was so much food to choose from and although it isn't free at least I know the money is going to a good cause. Food and drinks are provided by different groups affiliated with Ft Drum and they sell them as a fundraiser to I was happy to give them my money. After eating and visiting with friends we went to find seats for the concert. Each year there is an artist who comes to perform for the troops at no cost and this year is was country musician JoDee Massena. Unfortunately we did not get over to the stage area early enough to get good seats so I don't have any pictures of her on stage, but it was just as nice sitting towards the back watching the kids run around and dance. After the concert everyone went back over to the seating area for the twilight air show. I got some pictures but because of the dark all of them didn't turn out well. Andrew loved the airshow!! He kept worrying that the planes were going to crash. It was very cute watching him react to everything. Once the airshow was over they closed out the night with a fireworks display. We did not get home until 11:30 at night! It was such a good day and I am so glad I decided to take Andrew.

Last week of school and Pre-K graduation

This was Andrew's last week of school. On Monday his class took a field trip to the local library for story time.

Tonight was his Pre-K graduation. All of the kids were so cute and looked so big standing up there. It's hard to believe I officially have a Kindergartner!

My little man is growing up so fast! It's hard to believe he will be going to school all day 5 days a week in just a few months. Andrew drives me nuts on most days, but I couldn't be prouder of him. He is becoming such a big kid and I can't wait to see what happens next

Andrew's 5th birthday

Ok so yesterday I was FINALLY able to have Andrew's birthday party. Because of my Grandma's death and us traveling to AR his party here in NY was postponed to a later date. Sadly once we returned home and I was able to come up with a day all of our friends had other plans and were unable to come. Fortunately I have an awesome kid so it didn't seem to bother him one little bit that it was just the two of us celebrating. After school yesterday morning we went to the store and picked up his Transformer cake which Andrew was super excited about. Then we came home, opened presents, hit the pinata and ate some cake. All and all it was a good day and if I'm being completely honest I'm kind of thankful it was just us. Can you say no stress what so ever?!?! Here are just a few pictures of my little guy's special day......3 weeks after the actual day :-)
